Our History

Just simply living life everyday as a family. There is work, school, homework, sports, laundry and dishes (every Mom's favorite). Then BAM you go to the doctor and you hear ....your child has a brain tumor.... Life as you know it STOPS! As a parent you want to just fix it, but you can't. Cancer affects so many lives. It could be a family member, neighbor, friend  or even a friend of a friend. Mandie's Miles is our way, as parents, to give back to the Brenner Children's network. The Pediatric Oncology Team offered us the most cutting edge treatments and a wonderful patient centered approach to specialize for Mandie's cancer. Best of all we were right here at home.

Brain Cancer Facts

  • More than 4,000 brain & spinal cord tumors are diagnosed each year in children & teens.
  • They account for about 1 out of 4 childhood cancers.
  • Tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) are the most common solid tumor of childhood, and represent the leading cause of childhood-cancer related death.
  • Improvements in survival rates of pediatric CNS tumors have lagged significantly behind other pediatric cancers.
  • Survivors of brain tumors often suffer long-term side effects from treatment, including neurocognitive deficits, hormone axis abnormalities, and secondary cancers.
  • New, innovative therapies are urgently needed.
